5 Tips to Support Children with Anxiety - This event has already occurred
Thursday, May 13, 2021 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
How do you know when anxiety is becoming a problem for your child? Problematic anxiety in childhood is common. It can disrupt opportunities for healthy experiences, influence a child’s ability to achieve academically, make friends or enjoy activities.
About 1 in 10 Canadians access mental health support at some point in their lifetime. Understanding what anxiety is and how it impacts lives can benefit many of us.
This workshop provides essential tools to better understand anxiety in children, recognize when it is becoming a problem, help children build the capacity to overcome it, and create environments to create better outcomes for those who are struggling.
Facilitator Sean Larsen, MA PhD Candidate, has worked as a clinician with children and families for well over a decade, in children’s psychiatric units, youth custody centres and outpatient mental health settings. He trains suicide risk assessment and risk management provincially and has spoken nationally on childhood anxiety, neurodevelopment, early childhood trauma, digital media, and suicide.
